Care of gold jewellery

We are a stockist of 9kt and 18kt gold jewellery, and - like silver - gold can tarnish, but will retain its shine and colour by using a gold polishing cloth or a gold liquid cleaner.

GOLD VERMEIL

Gold-plated jewellery is made by using electricity or chemicals to deposit and bond a very thin layer of gold over another metal (such as silver).  The process creates a layer as thin as 1/1000 to 3/1000 of an inch of gold over a more affordable metal. 
 
It is long-lasting and also easy to keep it shiny: simply use a gentle polishing cloth and avoid getting it wet or exposing it to chemicals. 

GOLD FILLED

Jewellers create gold-filled jewellery by pressure bonding an actual layer of gold to another metal.  Depending on the manufacturer, it is in all cases significantly thicker than regular gold plating.  Gold-filled jewellery can be worn daily without fear of fading or rubbing off for many years.
